Chinese companies receive attention at Turkish trade expo
An international trade expo being hosted in Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul, has attracted “great attention” for Chinese businesses from a variety of industries, a Turkish business leader said on Friday.
The Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MUSIAD) Expo, a four-day event that began in Istanbul on November 2, featured 32 Chinese businesses and business organizations in total.
According to Halit Kerim, deputy president of MUSIAD Export Development Commission, “Chinese enterprises have one of the broadest participation in the exhibition this year.”
“Thanks to businesses like Huawei and ZTE, which are well-established in (the Turkish) industry, attention towards Chinese firms is high. The goal of MUSIAD Expo is to build new kinds of cooperation between Chinese and Turkish businesses in order to improve the already-existing trade ties, according to Kerim.
The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Bank of China’s Turkish branches, China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO), China Telecom, China Tianchen Engineering Corporation, train car manufacturer CRRC, and Sinovac are among the other significant Chinese companies present at the exhibition. The COVID-19 vaccines from Sinovac are frequently used in Turkey’s widespread immunization program.
Through new business connections and partnerships, the MUSIAD Expo this year hopes to produce a trade volume of almost $5 billion USD, according to Kerim. Participants in the event came from over 100 nations, including Azerbaijan, Russia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Algeria, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Iran.
