Chinese American Film, Television Festivals shine in their 18th year

On November 4, 2022, in Los Angeles, California, the United States, one of the recipients addresses the award ceremony at the 18th Chinese American Film Festival and the Chinese American Television Festival.

Here, on Friday night, the 18th Chinese American Film Festival and the Chinese American Television Festival got underway.

The cultural event, which aims to boost industry contacts and collaboration between China and the United States, drew several hundred finely attired Chinese and Hollywood celebrities and guests to the Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel.

At the festivals, more than 400 film and television productions will be exhibited. This year, 10 movies, including “My Country, My Parents,” “Nice View,” “Schemes in Antiques,” “Sunshine of My Life,” and “Between Us,” took home the Golden Angel Award.

The animated comedy “The Bad Guys” and the science fiction action movie “Jurassic World Dominion” from Universal Pictures, the epic science fiction movie “Dune” from Legendary Pictures, and the fantasy movie “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” from Warner Bros. Pictures received awards from the festival for being the most well-liked American movies in China.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Ping, the general consul of China in Los Angeles, noted the significance of the occasion as a forum for bilateral discussions and collaboration in the film and television industries.

U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu hailed the “amazing” organizers of the event, which demonstrates the influence of culture and film, in her statement at the opening ceremony.

A motion designating November 2022 as Chinese American Film Festival and Chinese American Television Festival Month was unanimously passed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday. Los Angeles County is the most populated county in the country.

The yearly occasion, which was established in 2005 by EDI Media Inc., is typically hosted in Los Angeles in November.
