Kampala 13th April 2023 – The Rotary Club and Centenary Bank have joined forces to promote humanitarian activities going forward. Centenary Bank is the largest commercial microfinance bank in Uganda.
This occurred at a press event where Rotary introduced the 98th Rotary District Conference’s official partners at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Beatrice Lugalambi, the general manager of marketing and corporate communication at Centenary Bank, gave a speech at the event where she thanked all of the important participants for their support of the nation’s philanthropic causes and underlined that the bank would continue to do so.
“Centenary Bank acknowledges the outstanding deeds of service that the Rotary Leadership in Uganda and elsewhere is promoting through the various Rotary projects. We have been a key sponsor of this journey for the past 12 years, especially for this DCA, and we are happy to be a part of it.
“As a gold sponsor, the bank has contributed a total of Ugx. 185 million,” Lugalambi stated. Such humanitarian causes are clearly related to our bank’s mission, which is to alter lives, particularly those of the rural poor. This is evidence of the high value we place on our communities, she added.
Lugalambi attributes the idea that the bank has sponsored various charitable causes over the years to Centenary Bank’s goal.

In order to further our objective as a bank to promote and develop rural parts of Uganda, she said, “We have funded initiatives like the annual cancer run, Free Malaria Uganda, family health drives, cervical cancer screening, and youth empowerment drives, to name but a few.”
Lugalambi continued by praising the various Rotary Uganda activities that the bank has backed and promising to do even more to ensure the communities they serve were taken care of.
“In the just-completed year, the Bank invested a total of ugx.1.5 billion on corporate social responsibility, benefiting 100,000 Ugandans directly and more than 10,000,000 indirectly. Initiatives related to the environment, health, education, and social missions were among the main efforts supported. As part of our sustainability mission, we will continue to take these actions slowly.
To ensure that Ugandans are at the forefront of change in their communities, Lugalambi urged everyone to provide their assistance in whatever way they could.
“As I draw to a close, I would like to encourage all Ugandans to work with us on these various Rotary programs in your particular capacities so that we can improve the economic and social conditions of our people in Uganda.”
Other important players like Roke Telecom and Uganda Breweries joined Rotary and Centenary Bank.
