Dr. Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), flew into Uganda on Thursday night to begin a two-day tour.
In the presence of Wallace Karia, president of CECAFA, and Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim, president of FUFA, Dr. Motsepe was formally greeted at Entebbe International Airport.

The delegation that greeted the CAF President included FUFA’s Justus Mugisha, first vice president, and Darius Mugoye, second vice president.

He met with the Federation Executive Committee during his visit to the FUFA Complex in Mengo.

In his opening remarks, the FUFA President remarked, “I take the pleasure to welcome you to FUFA and Uganda Mr. President. We are honored to have you here and hopeful that your visit will bring benefits both in the short and long term.”

“As the premier footballing nation in Africa, both on and off the field, is our objective at FUFA. And we’ve established goals for ourselves in order to do it. The main goals are to establish a professional sector, introduce football to every household, and achieve the pinnacle of perfection. Added he.

FUFA was praised for taking the initiative in the area by CECAFA President Karia, who was also present at the meeting. This shows that many Federations are looking to FUFA as an example.

As the CAF President visits Uganda and the CECAFA area, it is a joy for me to be present today. In many ways, FUFA has excelled, and we are proud of its leadership. The Federation has a clear plan for where it wants to go, and we hope it will be realized,” he said.
In his introductory remarks, CAF President Motspee praised the friendly ties between South Africa and Uganda.

“I’m delighted to be in Uganda. Where I’m from (South Africa), Uganda has traditionally been seen as a decent country. We are aware of Makerere University and the intimate ties between South Africa and Uganda in the struggle against apartheid.

Dr. Motsepe praised FUFA for their initiatives to advance football. He also emphasized that CAF intends to provide Member Associations with more help in the future.
“I will discuss the value of football, sports in general, and how this industry can help alter society when I visit President Museveni tomorrow. Every Member Association will be given more influence through various measures, including finance and capacity building. According to him, CAF is considering providing each MA at least $1 million USD to aid with the creation and promotion of the game.

Before leaving for the Seychelles on Friday, he will meet with H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda, and the private sector.
