Bubulo, Karamoja get magistrates as Judiciary deploys 10
According to a statement released by the Judiciary, Bubulo and Kyenjojo Courts will have their first substantive Chief Magistrates since their formation on September 1st, 2021
At least ten freshly recruited Registrars and Magistrates have been dispatched to various stations across the country in an effort to bring services closer to the people.
According to a statement released by the Judiciary, Bubulo and Kyenjojo Courts will have their first substantive Chief Magistrates since their formation on September 1st, 2021.
“As part of the modifications, Magistrate Grade One Lydia Kambedha has been assigned caretaker tasks in addition to her existing station to alleviate staffing gaps in the Jinja Magisterial Area,” according to the statement.
The recent deployments, according to Chief Registrar Sarah Langa Siu, are a sign of progress in terms of the number of Chief Magistrates.
According to Judiciary data, only 42 of the needed 100 Chief Magistrates are now functioning in the Judiciary organization, with these serving in 80 Magisterial regions. “Areas like Bubulo, which have never had resident Chief Magistrates, are now being served. This relieves the Mbale Chief Magistrate of some of his responsibilities,” Langa explained.
She goes on to say that the Karamoja sub-region, which formerly had only one Chief Magistrate, now has two.
Agnes Alum, who has been at the Civil Division, has been retained as Assistant Registrar, and Mastullah Mulondo has been retained as Assistant Registrar for Mediation, according to the reports reviewed by Uganda Radio Network (URN).
Esther Nalungi was transferred from Bugembe to Bubulo, Freddie Awacnedi was transferred from Nabweru to Kotido, Simon Toloko was relocated from Kiruhura to Bushenyi/Buhweju/Mitooma Magisterial regions, while Joy Nambozo and Gordon Muhimbise were retained in Kyenjojo and Ntungamo, respectively.
Benson Semondo was also kept in the Kira Chief Magistrates Court, while Beatrice Kainza was taken from Nakawa and transferred to the Ibanda/Kiruhura Magistrates Court.
Senior Grade One Magistrate Happy Anne Kyomuhangi will continue in Butaleja, Samuel Kagoda Ntende will be transferred from Ibanda/Kiruhura to Mityana, and Monica Amono will be transferred from Bushenyi/Buhweju/Mitooma to the Apac Magisterial Area.
Grade One Magistrates Racheal Nakyazze, who was selected from Mengo to go to Nabweru, and Nazifah Namayanja, who was selected from Ntungamo to travel to Kaliro magisterial district, are among those who have been affected by the transfers.
According to the release, all of the deployments will begin on September 1, 2021.
