Bobi Wine claims his trip to Zambia was a disappointment because he missed the president’s inauguration.

Despite getting an invitation, National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has revealed that his attempts to attend the inauguration of Zambia’s new president have been thwarted.

In a colorful ceremony in Lusaka on Tuesday afternoon, Zambia’s new president, Hakainde Hichilema, was sworn in to take over from outgoing President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Despite saying earlier that he would attend the swearing-in, the NUP leader, who has long referred to Hichilema as a close comrade, did not show up.

Kyagulanyi has now stated on Facebook that despite receiving his invitation, his attempts to attend the event were futile.

Kyagulanyi, on the other hand, remained tight-lipped about who thwarted his attempts, promising to elaborate in the coming days.

“It was last night. After all my efforts to go to Zambia were unsuccessful, I contacted with President Hakainde’s inaugural team and conveyed sincere sorrow for not being able to attend this historic event,” Kyagulanyi wrote in a tweet.

“In the following days, I will publish a statement with further information. Despite this, I am appreciative for the invitation.”

In a recent interview, Kyagulanyi stated that the new Zambian president is a good buddy with whom he even produced a song.

The song “Alone Together,” featuring Kyagulanyi and Zambia’s incoming president, as well as numerous other leaders, was recorded remotely.

Kyagulanyi praised the Zambian people for “paving the way” and stated that it is now the responsibility of this generation to guarantee that peaceful transitions become the norm in Africa.

The NUP leader also praised Lungu, who is now the former President of Zambia, for his willingness to accept loss gently.
