Bebe Cool claims he can no longer perform for less than Shs10m

Bebe Cool, a Ugandan singer, has advised Ugandans to start appreciating and adoring him unreservedly while he is still alive since he has done a lot to enhance the Uganda entertainment business.

The ‘Gyenvudde’ singer lamented in a video posted to Sanyuka TV’s official Facebook page this morning that Ugandans have not shown him and his colleague artist, Joseph Mayanja, aka Chameleone, enough affection despite the fact that they have played a significant part in the Ugandan music business.

Bebe Cool claims that he and Chameleone have done a tremendous job marketing Ugandan music, and he wants Ugandans to repay them by loving them.

“So Ugandans, we have high expectations of you. We’ve done our lot and will continue to do so, but now all Ugandans need to do is praise and adore us wholeheartedly,” Bebe Cool added.

He went on to say that Ugandans should stop applauding foreign musicians and instead support their own.

“You bring in international musicians and pay them millions of dollars, but you give us a pittance, despite the fact that we are more talented than the majority of the foreign artists you always bring here,” Bebe observed.

He also revealed that, as a result of the millions of dollars paid to international musicians, he is no longer playing for Shs5m or Shs10m in this country. For a show in Uganda, he expects to be paid more than Shs10 million.

“Let’s make money and pay it back ourselves.” “That is why I am no longer performing,” Bebe Cool explained. “I can’t perform for 5 million or 10 million dollars, while Nigerians are paid well.”

Bebe Cool isn’t the first Ugandan musician to beg Ugandans to remember him while he’s still alive. While honoring the late Mowzey Radio, who died four years ago, musician Jose Chameleone requested Ugandans to celebrate him while he was still alive at the start of the year.
