Basena replaces Mbabazi as Micho’s assistant for Cranes job

Moses, a former SC Villa coach, has been selected as the assistant coach to Serbian tactician Milutin Sredojevic Micho for the Cranes post, replacing Livingstone Mbabazi.
Mbabazi was selected as the assistant coach last week, but he declined because he wanted to stay as the head coach of the newly upgraded Arua Hills Sports Club.
FUFA recently said that national team coaches should not have any local club links.
The appointment of Basena as his replacement was announced by FUFA on Saturday.
According to FUFA, Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic has selected Moses Basena to replace Livingstone Mbabazi as assistant coach of the national senior team.
According to the local football governing body, because the Cranes coach has a contractual power to pick his backroom staff, he chose Basena, with whom he previously worked at the national team as well as during Micho’s time as coach of SC Villa in the early 2000s.
Following Micho’s resignation as Cranes coach in 2017, Basena, Micho’s assistant, was named caretaker manager for the remainder of the games.
