ARSENAL have terminated Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract

ARSENAL have terminated Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract, allowing the club’s sacked captain to join Barcelona on a free transfer.

After Arsenal terminated Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s £350,000-a-week contract, Barcelona completed a FREE move for the striker.

The Gabonese striker, 32,’surprised’ the Gunners by flying to the Catalan capital on Monday morning to complete a transfer – four years after arriving in England.

However, a financing agreement appeared to fall through after the two parties were unable to agree on Auba’s massive £350,000-per-week salaries.

If their former captain was playing for the LaLiga giants, Arsenal refused to pay the majority of the money.

But, just as it appeared that Aubameyang would be forced to return to London with his tail between his legs, Arsenal and Aubameyang reached an agreement.

Arsenal just let the misfit go, canceling his contract in the same way that they did with Mesut Ozil a year ago.

Arsenal has broken all connections with Aubameyang, and he will not return to the Emirates.

As a result, Barcelona has the option of directly negotiating with the player, who has effectively become a free agent.

There is an agreement for a six-month contract with the option of extending it for another year.

Arsenal will save £26 million in salary over the remaining 18 months of Aubameyang’s deal.

They have, however, written off a player who cost them £60 million when he arrived from Borussia Dortmund on this date last year.

Aubameyang, the Gunners’ sixth January departure, is said to be accepting a significant salary cut to join Barcelona, who are subject to tight FFP laws after declaring a £1.6 billion financial loss last year.

In Spain, the last elements of his new documentation were worked out.

Aubameyang also finished his medical before the 11 p.m. deadline.

Staff at the hospital were urged to get ready for the striker’s arrival so that everything could be completed on time.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta had previously stated that the club will ‘work until the last minute’ to complete a transaction.

And that’s exactly what they did, working late into the night to complete the relocation.

Aubameyang’s early arrival in Barcelona drew analogies to Peter Odemwingie’s ill-fated January 2013 attempt to join Queens Park Rangers.

The Nigerian was spotted in his car on Loftus Road, but no agreement was struck.

After the connection was brought to his attention on Twitter, Odemwingie himself remarked, “Someone showed me the first photo.”

“Am I presenting the award to someone else?” Just make sure you ask Aguero for advice, Aubameyang.”
