ARRESTED OURNALISTS: Uganda is not on the list, but Rwanda is third.

Egypt, Ethiopia, and Eritrea are among the countries that have been singled out for imprisoning a large number of journalists in the last year.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), the number of journalists imprisoned worldwide reached a new high in 2021, with China and Myanmar being the top offenders.

According to the New York-based organization’s annual report, 293 journalists are currently imprisoned around the world, up from 280 last year.

The CPJ discovered scores of journalists imprisoned across Africa:

Egypt has 25 countries.
Eritrea has 16 members.
Ethiopia (nine)
Rwanda has a score of seven.
Cameroon is ranked sixth in the world.
Morocco has a score of 3 while Algeria has a score of 2.

According to the report, Mexico is the worst country for journalists, with nine killed last year. The countries of Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Russia were also mentioned.
