Antonio Rudiger gives the current Chelsea’s team situation compared to the one he played in ahead of UCL game
The current Chelsea team, according to Antonio Rudiger, is “nothing like” the one he played in. All eyes now turn to Wednesday evening’s Champions League quarterfinal match between Chelsea and Real Madrid.
It’s a huge game for both teams, but for Chelsea, it’s all they have to hang their hat on to salvage something from what has been an horrific season in more ways than one.
Chelsea travel to Spain this week, where they will face one of their former players, defender Antonio Rudiger.
This current Chelsea team could certainly benefit from Rudiger’s leadership and motivation, which they currently lack. Rudiger has stated that the current Chelsea squad is nothing like the one he once played for. Nonetheless, he anticipates a rough game over the two legs.
The squad has talent, but it is currently lacking in mentality and experience.

Between 2017 and 2022, the centre-back made over 130 appearances for the Blues before joining Real Madrid as a free agent last summer.
However, the Champions League quarter-final draw has paired his new club with his old one, and they will face off again, as they have in the previous two seasons.
Rudiger was a member of the Chelsea team that was eliminated at this stage in 2022, but the Blues defeated the Spanish giants in the 2021 semi-finals on their way to lifting the trophy in the final.
The 30-year-old, who is now a member of Real Madrid’s squad, expressed his delight at seeing familiar faces again.
‘This will be very special – Can’t wait to see so many friends again,’ Rudiger tweeted.

Rudiger is not the only former Chelsea player in Real Madrid’s squad, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and forward Eden Hazard also returning to the club.
