Gilbert Oulanyah, a member of Parliament for the Forum for Democratic Change Party who represents Kilak South County, was involved in a serious accident on the Gulu-Kampala Highway on Tuesday night.
This accident occurred just days after the Buhweju county MP, who is also a member of the FDC, was critically injured in an accident on the Kampala-Masaka highway on Sunday, which claimed the lives of three pedestrians.
Oulanyah and his driver appear to be unharmed and are being treated at a nearby hospital near where they were involved in the accident.
By press time, no police comment on the vehicle accident had been released, however eyewitnesses claim that the accident was caused by a heavy duty truck driver who negotiated a turn. One witness claims that the motorist simply turned without signaling other road users. “Being late, the MP must have been driving at a tremendous pace that caused him to lose control when he collided with the truck and sought to escape a head-on collision by driving on the pavement side,” the source continues.
According to a message from the MP’s aide, he is no longer in danger. His aide told the media this morning, “Put him in your prayers because we are trying to do everything we can.” “His UAT 492K truck is beyond repair,” he continues.
