Nearly 14.8 million US kids were unexpectedly infected with COVID-19.
Los Angeles, US | BAZZUP | According to the most recent study from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Children’s Hospital Association, about 14.8 million kids in the US have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
In the last four weeks, there have been new instances totaling about 238,000. The report states that in 2022 there will have been an additional 6.9 million documented cases.
39,200 kid COVID-19 cases were reported for the week ending September 29, making up 15.2% of all infections recorded in the US during that time.
However, the paper claims that the recorded cases are probably a “significant undercount” of COVID-19 cases.
The AAP stated that more age-specific data collection is required to determine the degree of disease caused by novel variations as well as any potential long-term impacts.
The AAP emphasized the need to identify and address the pandemic’s long-term repercussions on the physical, mental, and social well-being of this generation of children and youth in addition to its immediate effects on children’s health.
