After being replaced with 20 minutes to play on Wednesday night, the pouting superstar marched away with his hands on his hips.

Despite it being his first game back from injury, Ronaldo was enraged when he was subjected to a double change by interim manager Rangnick.

As he walked away, the German boss attempted to hug the Portugal star, but Ron had his arms wide spread by his side and was looking straight ahead.

Ronaldo then took a seat near the dugout on the steps.

Rangnick later went over to the icon to speak with him.

After a dull opening 45 minutes, the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker listened intently and appeared to calm down as he watched United cruise to a comfortable victory.

And Rangnick said he had no issues with Ronaldo’s post-game attitude. “That is typical – a striker wants to score,” he told Bazzup Sport.

Ronaldo seemed to cool down as he watched United extend their lead to 3-0 before Brentford bagged a late consolation

“However, he has recovered from a little injury, and it’s vital to remember that we have another game coming up.”

“Also, following what occurred at Villa Park, we needed to defend the lead this time, therefore we needed to go back to a back five, which we didn’t.”

United had dominated after a dreadful first half.

After the game, Ron further de-escalated the situation by posting: “Three crucial points! Congratulations on a job well done, fellas.”

Soon after the break, Anthony Elanga and Mason Greenwood scored excellent goals to put United in command.

Rangnick then substituted centre-back Maguire and England striker Rashford for frontmen Ronaldo and Greenwood. United’s third was quickly buried by the latter.

Rangnick’s dreams of a clean sheet were dashed as Brentford’s late comeback was hit by Ivan Toney.

Despite United’s remarkable turnaround after the break, much of the post-match social media focus was on Ronaldo.

Some supporters believed that, at 36, he should be setting a better example for his younger teammates.
