Africa’s electronic music festival Nyege Nyege is back after a 2 years

Africa’s biggest and most adventurous music festival Nyege Nyege returns at Itanda Falls in Uganda after over two years of lockdown.

Nyege Nyege Festival, Uganda’s most anticipated yearly social event, will take place from September 15 to 18, 2022 at a new venue, Itanda Falls.

On Friday, when the new dates and venue were announced, it was stated that the former venue had become too tiny and that a change was required to give the event a fresh edge.

Nyege Nyege will be held at Itanda Falls for the next five years.

Following a two-year hiatus, this will be by far the most historic edition, with a new location, new activities, and a colossal lineup of over 300 artists from across the world.

The event, its accompanying labels, and collective have characterized the vanguard of new sounds emerging from the Continent with over 200 shows worldwide.

Nyege Nyege, a festival founded on love, resilience, and passion for music, is going all-in this year, collaborating with collectives from across the continent, as well as online radio stations invited to present at the festival; with a special emphasis this year on visual art installations, innovative stage design, a luxurious camping experience, and new tourism activities, such as rafting the Nile rapids all the way to the festival’s shores!

Nyege Nyege is certain that by upgrading to a new site, it would be able to provide visitors with a more pleasant and spacious experience, while also establishing Itanda Falls as one of East Africa’s most exciting tourism sites.

Along with the well-known stages of Dark Star, Tropical Disco, Nyege Nyege Main Stage, Bell Club, Roots and Culture Stage, and Spirit of Uganda, this year’s festival will feature an expanded version of the Spirit of Uganda stage, which will feature music and culture from across Uganda, including food, crafts, music, and storytelling.

The artist lineup, which includes over 300 concerts, will be announced soon. The festival will also work with the superficial machine group to build hybrid digital experiences that connect the festival to the rest of the world and satellite events taking place throughout the world.
