Speaking at the occasion, Mene remarked that Africa has long struggled with the fragmentation of the rules that have barred intra-African commerce and prevented Uganda’s exports, particularly milk, from reaching continental markets outside of East Africa.
However, he added that the AfCFTA has implemented many measures to facilitate intra-African trade, particularly in the sector of agriculture and agro-processing, making the 1.3 billion-person market on the continent more competitive on the global stage.
