A suspected bomb exploded in a Swift Safaris bus with the registration number UAU 989T approximately 5 p.m. on Monday evening as the bus was traveling from Kampala to Bushenyi.
“One person has been confirmed dead so far, and several others have been evacuated,” said police spokesperson Fred Enanga in a statement.
The location has been blocked off since then, pending a complete evaluation and investigation by bomb experts, he said.
The news comes only two days after another bomb targeted a pork shop in Komamboga, a Kampala neighborhood, killing one person and seriously injuring three more.
