Eng Hilary Onek, the Minister of Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees, has announced that 140 Afghan refugees, the majority of whom are women and children, will arrive in Uganda on Sunday and will be based in the city of Entebbe.
Onek stated that the group, who will first be tested for Covid 19 and then be provided with exquisite hotel accommodations, will not be recognized as refugees because the United States retains complete responsibility for their well-being.

Following the collapse of President Ashraf Ghani’s government earlier this week, the Afghan government promised to accept at least 2,000 refugees fleeing the country’s conflict.
Despite the fact that the first batch of refugees was due to arrive on Wednesday of this week, Foreign Affairs Minister Gen Jeje Odongo revealed that the appropriate authorities were still vetting the kind of persons who would be arriving in the nation.
